Fix Poppy Playtime Not Launching on PC
You click play on Poppy Playtime, the window hangs for a second, and then nothing happens. It is incredibly frustrating to be stuck at a black screen or an instant close when you just want to jump into the game. Let's walk through the steps to get the launcher communicating with your PC correctly.
Why it happens
Game files often become corrupted during updates, or your system permissions are preventing the launcher from executing properly. Conflicts with background overlays or outdated GPU drivers are also frequent culprits.
What you need
Make sure you have your Steam client open and are logged into an account with administrator privileges on your computer.
Steps
-
01Open Steam and go to your Library, right-click Poppy Playtime, and select Properties.
-
02Go to the Installed Files tab and click Verify integrity of game files to repair corrupted data.
-
03If the game still fails to open, right-click the game in your library, select Manage, then Browse local files.
-
04Right-click the Playtime Launcher executable and select Properties.
-
05Under the Compatibility tab, check the boxes for Run this program as an administrator and Disable fullscreen optimizations, then click Apply.
-
06Visit the website of your GPU manufacturer (Nvidia, AMD, or Intel) to download and install the latest drivers for your graphics card.
-
07In the Steam Properties menu under the General tab, uncheck Enable the Steam overlay while in game to prevent software conflicts.
-
08Disable any active overlays in secondary programs like Discord or GPU companion software.
-
09If none of the above work, right-click the game in Steam, select Manage, and click Uninstall before performing a fresh installation.
