Fix Ghost of Tsushima Audio Cutting Out on PC
It is frustrating when your audio starts cutting out or crackling right in the middle of a Ghost of Tsushima session. This usually happens because your Windows sound settings are clashing with the game engine's audio requirements, but we can get it synced up quickly.
Why this happens
The game engine often struggles with high-fidelity sample rates or software-based audio processing overlays. Setting your output to a standard format forces compatibility.
Steps
-
01Right-click the sound icon in your system tray and select Sound Settings
-
02Select your active speaker device and toggle Audio Enhancements to Off
-
03Right-click the sound icon again and select More Sound Settings
-
04Under the Playback tab, right-click your speaker and select Properties
-
05Go to the Advanced tab and change the Default Format to 16-bit 48000 Hz (DVD Quality)
-
06Click Apply and restart the game to test your audio
-
07If issues persist, return to the Advanced tab and try 16-bit 44100 Hz instead
-
08Check that your device is active by going to Sound Settings, All Sound Devices, and ensuring your speakers are not disabled
