Fix Overwatch Sound Not Working - Audio Troubleshooting Guide
You launch into a match only to be met with complete silence. It is incredibly frustrating when you lose your audio cues, but this usually happens because Windows silently muted the application or the game is trying to output audio to the wrong device.
Why this happens
Windows often lowers app volume automatically, or a recent system update shifted your default audio device, leaving Overwatch disconnected from your speakers.
Steps
-
01Right-click the speaker icon in your taskbar and select Open volume mixer.
-
02Locate Overwatch in the list of applications and ensure the slider is turned up and not muted.
-
03Launch Overwatch and go to Options, then Sound.
-
04Verify the Playback device setting is set to your active speakers or headset, not a disconnected device.
-
05Right-click the taskbar speaker icon and select Sound settings.
-
06Under Output, ensure the correct playback device is selected.
-
07Scroll to the Volume mixer section, select Overwatch, and ensure its output is set to Default or your specific device.
