Fix Marvel Rivals Not Opening on PC

You click play in Steam, the status changes to 'Running,' and then... nothing happens. It is incredibly frustrating to have the launcher flash or just sit frozen in your background processes while the game refuses to load. I have seen this happen on dozens of machines, and it usually boils down to a hung process or a corrupted game file.

Why this happens

The game often fails to launch because a background process from a previous attempt is still active or critical game files were corrupted during the last update.

What you'll need

No external tools are required. You only need your Steam client and basic access to your Windows settings.

Steps

   Right-click the Windows icon and select Task Manager.

   Search for 'marvel' in the search bar, right-click every process related to Marvel Rivals, and select 'End Task'.

   Open Steam, right-click 'Marvel Rivals' in your library, and select Properties.

   Go to the 'Installed Files' tab and click 'Verify integrity of game files' to repair any corrupt data.

   If it still won't launch, navigate back to the 'Installed Files' tab and click 'Browse'.

   Right-click the MarvelRivals.exe file and select Properties.

   In the 'Compatibility' tab, check the boxes for 'Run this program as an administrator' and 'Disable full-screen optimizations', then click Apply.

   Disable 'In-Game Overlay' settings within both Discord and your NVIDIA GeForce Experience app to prevent launch conflicts.
