Fix Hytale Blocky Water Texture Issues
If your water in Hytale looks pixelated or blocky, it is usually because your graphics card is forcing a filter that the game engine does not handle well. Adjusting your NVIDIA settings will smooth out the textures so you can get back to playing without the visual noise.
Why this happens
The game engine struggles when NVIDIA's global Anisotropic Filtering setting overrides the internal texture rendering for water.
Before you start
Make sure Hytale is completely closed before you change these settings to ensure the game picks up the new configuration on launch.
Steps
-
01Right-click your desktop and select Show more options, then open the NVIDIA Control Panel.
-
02Click Manage 3D Settings in the left-hand sidebar.
-
03Locate Anisotropic Filtering in the list of settings.
-
04Change the value from Application-controlled to Off.
-
05Click the Apply button at the bottom right to save your changes.
-
06If the water still looks wrong, disable any active mods, specifically Pixel Paintings or Mob Trophies, as these are known to cause texture conflicts.
