How To Fix Adobe Acrobat Crashing On Windows
It is incredibly frustrating when you are trying to open a PDF and Adobe Acrobat freezes or just vanishes from your screen. This usually happens because of an outdated app version or a conflict with your graphics settings, but we can usually clear this up in a few minutes.
Why Acrobat crashes
Most crashes are caused by outdated software, corrupted installation files, or conflicts between Adobe's rendering engine and your system's graphics drivers.
Steps
-
01Open Acrobat, click the top-left Menu, select Help, and choose Check for Updates.
-
02Install any available updates, restart the application, and test your PDF again.
-
03If it still crashes, go to Menu and select Preferences.
-
04Click the Multimedia and 3D tab on the left and uncheck Enable hardware rendering for legacy video cards, then click OK.
-
05Restart Acrobat to apply the change.
-
06If the issue persists, go to Menu, select Help, and click Repair Installation.
-
07Allow the process to complete, restart your computer, and relaunch Adobe Acrobat.
