Fix Google Meet Screen Share Not Working on Windows
If you click the screen share button in Google Meet and nothing happens, your browser is likely being blocked by Windows security settings. This permission issue stops the window picker from appearing entirely.
Why this happens
Windows requires explicit permission for apps to capture your screen, and this setting often resets or gets toggled off during system updates.
Steps
-
01Open the Start menu, type
Settings, and press Enter. -
02Click
Privacy and securityin the left sidebar. -
03Scroll down and click
Screenshots and screen recording. -
04Ensure the master toggle at the top for
Screenshots and screen recording accessis turned On. -
05Find your browser in the list below and toggle its switch to On.
-
06If the switches were already On, toggle them Off, wait three seconds, and toggle them back On to force Windows to refresh the permission.
-
07Restart your browser and rejoin the Google Meet to test the screen share.
