Fix Overwatch Error BN-564: Connection Troubleshooting Guide

KitsuneGuide Watch on YouTube ↗

Staring at the BN-564 error when you just want to play Overwatch is incredibly frustrating. This error means your game client is failing to establish a stable connection with the Blizzard servers, but you can usually clear it by refreshing your network path or verifying your game files.

Why this happens

The BN-564 error occurs when your network is dropping packets or Blizzard servers are experiencing an outage. It is almost always a connectivity handshake issue rather than a problem with your actual game account.

Steps

  1. 01
Check the Blizzard server status on a site like Downdetector to rule out a widespread outage.
  2. 02
Unplug your router from the power outlet, wait exactly 60 seconds, and plug it back in.
  3. 03
Connect your PC or console directly to the router using an Ethernet cable to bypass unstable Wi-Fi signals.
  4. 04
If on PC, open the Battle.net launcher, click the gear icon next to the Play button, and select Scan and Repair to fix corrupted game files.
  5. 05
If on console, go to account.battle.net/connections, sign in, remove your linked PSN or Xbox account, and re-link it to refresh the authentication token.
