Fix Windows Bluetooth Connected But No Sound
It is frustrating when your headphones say they are connected but the audio keeps playing through your PC speakers instead. Windows often defaults to the wrong output device or hits a snag with the connection handshake. Let us get your audio redirected to your Bluetooth device so you can get back to what you were listening to.
Why this happens
This usually occurs because Windows selected the wrong audio output device or the Bluetooth driver is experiencing a temporary sync glitch.
Steps
-
01Right-click the speaker icon in your taskbar and select Sound Settings.
-
02Look under the Output section, click the dropdown menu, and ensure your Bluetooth device is selected instead of your monitor or internal speakers.
-
03If the sound is still missing, right-click the speaker icon again and open Volume Mixer to ensure your specific app volume is up and routed to the correct device.
-
04Go to Settings > Bluetooth and devices, click the three dots next to your device, select Disconnect, wait three seconds, and click Connect again.
-
05If it still fails, go back to the three dots in Bluetooth settings, select Remove device, and put your headphones back into pairing mode to perform a clean setup.
