Optimize Overwatch FPS: Best Settings for Performance 2026

KitsuneGuide Watch on YouTube ↗

If your Overwatch frames are tanking during team fights or your inputs feel sluggish despite having a decent rig, you are likely fighting background power throttling and inefficient display settings. Most of the performance loss comes from Windows and your GPU trying to save power when they should be running at full capacity.

Why this happens

Windows and GPU drivers often throttle performance to save energy, which causes micro-stutters during intense gaming moments. Additionally, borderless display modes force your frames through extra processing layers, increasing input latency.

What you will need

Ensure you have your GPU driver software (Nvidia Control Panel or AMD Radeon Software) installed and administrative access to your Windows power settings.

Steps

  1. 01
Open the Start menu, search for Edit power plan, and select Change advanced power settings.
  2. 02
Switch your active plan to High Performance or Ultimate Performance and click Apply.
  3. 03
Open your GPU control software, navigate to power management settings, and set the mode to Prefer Maximum Performance.
  4. 04
Open the Battle.net launcher, go to Settings, and enable Close Battle.net when a game launches.
  5. 05
Launch Overwatch, go to Options, and set Display Mode to Fullscreen.
  6. 06
Set Dynamic Render Scale to Off and lock Render Scale at 100.
  7. 07
Set Frame Rate to Custom and match the number to your monitor's refresh rate.
  8. 08
Set VSync and Triple Buffering to Off, and ensure Reduce Buffering is set to On.
  9. 09
Set Nvidia Reflex to Enabled + Boost (for RTX) or Enabled (for GTX) cards.
  10. 10
Set Upsampling to DLSS Quality for Nvidia cards, or FSR for AMD/Intel hardware, and keep all secondary quality settings like Shadows and Fog on Low.
