How To Change Name In The Finals On PC, PS5 & Xbox
Your in-game name in The Finals is tied to your Embark ID, which is why updating your Steam, PlayStation, or Xbox account settings does not change your display name. Since there is no menu inside the game client to handle this, you need to use the official Embark ID website to update your profile.
Why this happens
The Finals assigns you a random Embark ID upon your first launch that operates independently of your platform-specific account username.
Name requirements
Your new name can be up to 16 characters long and can contain hyphens, underscores, or periods. You cannot have more than 4 numbers in a row.
Steps
-
01Navigate to the official Embark ID portal at https://id.embark.games/id/sign-in using any web browser.
-
02Log in using the account credentials linked to the platform you play on, such as Steam, PlayStation Network, or Xbox Live.
-
03Click on the Profile tab to view your current Embark ID details.
-
04Locate your Display Name and click the Edit button next to it.
-
05Enter your desired username, ensuring it meets the character and symbol constraints, then click Save to apply the changes across all platforms.
Still not working?
If you are unable to log in, ensure you are using the primary account linked to your game progress. If the Save button is greyed out, your chosen name likely contains prohibited characters or violates the numeric sequence rules, so try a variation without special symbols.
Frequently asked questions
Is it free to change my name in The Finals?
Yes, name changes are free. However, you can only change your display name once every 30 days.
Will changing my name affect my account progress?
No, updating your Embark ID display name only changes how you appear to other players and does not impact your stats, unlocks, or account progress.
Does this change my Steam or PSN username?
No. This process only updates your identity within The Finals and other Embark titles; your original platform account username remains unchanged.
