Fix Gamble With Your Friends Not Launching on Steam
It is frustrating when you are ready to play and the game just refuses to open, or it freezes the second you click play. Usually, this happens because an old game process is still hanging in the background, locking your files and preventing a fresh launch.
Why this happens
The most common culprit is an 'orphaned' game process still running in the background, which prevents Steam from opening a new instance. Sometimes, the game also lacks the necessary permissions to access your system files.
Steps
-
01Right-click your taskbar and select Task Manager, then type 'Gamble' into the search bar at the top.
-
02Right-click any process related to the game and select 'End task' until the list is completely clear.
-
03In your Steam Library, right-click 'Gamble with Your Friends', hover over 'Manage', and select 'Browse local files'.
-
04Locate the game executable file, right-click it, and select 'Run as administrator' to grant it the required system permissions.
-
05If it still fails to open, go back to the game folder location, go up one level to the 'common' folder, and delete the 'Gamble with Your Friends' folder entirely.
-
06Return to Steam, right-click the game, select 'Manage', then 'Uninstall', and finally click 'Install' to perform a clean download of the game files.
Still not working?
If the game still won't launch, right-click the game in Steam and select 'Properties'. In the 'General' tab, find the 'Launch Options' text box and try entering '-windowed' or '-dx11' to rule out fullscreen or graphics API conflicts. If you still see an error message, check your antivirus quarantine folder to ensure it didn't accidentally flag the game's executable as a threat.
Frequently asked questions
Will I lose my game saves if I delete the folder and reinstall?
Most modern Steam games use Steam Cloud, so your save progress should be synced to your account. However, it is always a good idea to check your local 'AppData' folder for any manual save backups before deleting files.
Can I just restart my computer instead of using Task Manager?
Yes, a full restart will also terminate all background processes and clear your RAM, which is often just as effective as using Task Manager.
